Success has many forms and it's not always about how much money we make. Sounds like a cliché but let’s be honest, success is about us,people. Without us, building projects wouldn’t exist, and without labourers, managers, investors and myriad other contributors, companies could not increase their income or see profits at the end of each year.
Since entering architecture over 30 years ago, I observed how business models were often absent of this perspective. Making it almost impossible for talented individuals to have the opportunity to grow and contribute constructively within companies /organisations that needed them.
Recently the world of construction, including architecture, has been compelled to develop a more open and collaborative approach. Is this just the beginning? The industries focus on buildings instead of the user combined with an emphasis on titles rather than expertise, professionalism and value can only culminate in divided teams and inferior end products.
This a question that appears on websites more than ever before. Sometimes it is clear that there is an element of protectionism.
So my answer to this is, the definition of a ‘designer’ is being redefined. The introduction of technology and alternative methods of construction has changed the playing field. Where the drawing board and design philosophy of architecture were center stage we now have programmers, generative designers, product designers, artists, biophysicists and others who are joining and leading the design team. Once again, if we think about it this is also pointing us to the fact that architecture is not about buildings, or titles it’s about people.
My ambition is that Cudot will be aligned with the future of design. We want to openly invite and engage with creatives while avoiding the trap of segregated architectural design. So contact us with your proposal, we want hear from you.
